When it rains in the summer, we often run into these semi-aquatic Sonoran Desert Toads. These two were hanging out in a low wash crossing making tadpoles. They’re a little different than the “horny toads” we usually see. And while they’re fun to have around, you want to keep your doggos and kitties away from them. They have huge glands on their heads, and if a dog or cat licks one of these toads it can be toxic to them. We don’t currently have any pets, but we admire these toads from a distance just the same. Miss me with that wicked hypnotoad cocktail! 😂 ________________________ #desertcritters #southernaz #arizonamonsoon #sonorandesert #sonorandeserttoad #coloradorivertoad #azwildlife #arizonaoutdoors
