Greetings From The Desert! • • 📷 Photo captured September 6, 2021 • • This beautiful plant is the Sacred Datura, also known as Datura Wrightii or Western Jimsonweed. • • Thanks to monsoon moisture, daturas are currently growing abundantly in areas close to the Lower Salt River. • • Though beautiful, all parts of this plant are toxic to humans and animals, including wild horses. • • While the night-blooming flowers are fragrant, the leaves exude an unpleasant odor that generally repels animals. • • Historically, parts of the datura plant were used by native tribes for its anesthetic or hallucinogenic properties. • • Best to admire this beauty from a safe distance. • • Hope this postcard finds you and your loved ones safe and well. ❤️🌱☠️😷
