Day & night 24: So we got up early and drove to Mesa to get lunch at Somburros. My favorite Mexican restaurant. It was better than I remember! We drove by my old house and in the old neighborhood. It was weird and fun. It was raining the whole way. We decided to get going to Sedona before it got too late. We got caught in the craziest rainstorm!! As we were driving there was sooo much water I could barely see. It gave us warnings, but we were in the mountains all ready and we were definitely in fleeing the area mode. I think we were just ahead of the worst. We never made it to Sedona. We had 3 nights planned there, but the weather had other plans. We hydroplaned a few times and we were both freaked out. Luckily Andrew didn’t let on he was freaked out until we were safe. He told me that he saw the flooding underneath the highway rising as we were driving. 😳 I was looking straight ahead so I had no idea. I think if we stopped sooner we would have been stuck for a while. I was driving slow and safely and freaking out enough for the both of us. As soon as we got into the city outside of Sedona we called and canceled our camping. We could not get up there. We had to get a motel room, there was no choice to be safe. Once we were safely in doors we decided to change plans and head to Nevada the next day for sun and warmth. We were not prepared for being rained out! I’m so glad we are safe. We totally saw a car turned over on the highway. I hope nobody died. 🥺😩😳😢 #arizonamonsoon #arizonarainstorm #flashfloodwarning
